Fear, the fungus

Taken over,

I remain

A hostess

to my parasite,

A hostage

to my paralyzing

Inert body

under a thousand atmospheres,

I remain

bitten tongue

at all hurtful words

where I nest.

Fear has me

like the ant

that bit the leave.

My infection,

my death grip,

I remain.

Insecurity sprouts

root me here.

Equally small,

largely weak.

Fear, the fungus

has me slave

to my own biology,

consuming my brain.
